About Sigma

Built in 1977,  Sigma is the northern-most res hall on campus, which puts it nearest to the La Mirada Blvd. entrance and the retail areas at the La Mirada Blvd. and Imperial Hwy. intersection. It is part of what is known as 'upper campus,' which also includes Alpha, Horton Hall, and Emerson Hall. Sigma is staffed by Resident Director Julia Stanton and her team of 9 RAs.

Sigma is distinctive in that it has suite-style rooms; instead of large, common bathrooms, each two-bedroom suite has its own bathroom, and each room has an in-room sink/vanity; this provides both additional privacy and the additional responsibility of keeping the bath clean. There is a large lounge, with attached kitchen, on each level, and each level also has its own laundry room. Sigma is co-ed, with male and female students living in separate sections of the building, while sharing the lounges, kitchens, and laundry facilities.

Amenities

Sigma is fully air conditioned. Each student is provided the same furniture in each room: 1 desk, 1 bookshelf, 1 desk chair, one 3-drawer dresser or drawer unit, a closet or wardrobe, 1 twin bed and mattress (36" x 74" innerspring mattress), and 1 mattress cover. Each room also is provided one telephone, one wastebasket, and window coverings (blinds/drapes).
