Support Staff
Roxanne Kuns
Roxanne is Executive Secretary to the Dean of Students. Most students will know Roxanne as 'the chapel lady,' a role she filled for several years before taking this position in July 2007. Roxanne started at Biola in 1996, but her Biola bloodline goes far deeper than that; she is a Biola alum from the class of 1966, and both her parents were longtime Biola employees.
Nancy Puou
Nancy is the Receptionist/Secretary for Student Development. Her goal is to "provide excellent customer service to students, staff & faculty." Nancy's job includes making student ID cards, passport photos, assisting with meal plans, answering phones, and more. She also assists the Chapel Accountability Coordinator with various chapel needs. She has worked for Biola in this position for eight years. Nancy has two grown children and one teenager; her oldest daughter attends Biola and is studying Marine Biology. Nancy loves ice cream, movies, the theater, fine dining, traveling and camping. "I really love working with college students and interacting with them; I have the most stimulating and interesting conversations with them. I am very blessed to work at Biola." And yes, her last name is pronounced pooh-oh, like 'duo.'
DeAnn Decker
DeAnn is Coordinator for Student Care. DeAnn's heart in this role is to connect with students who are dealing with significant struggles, often to the point of affecting their ability to function well as a student, and create a helpful intervention plan. DeAnn has worked in Student Development for 15 years, and says "I am daily grateful for the opportunity to live out my vocational calling in this role. I have been given the gift of living out life with my husband Murray, who teaches in the School of Intercultural Studies, and my two children, Nathan (12) and Lauren (9)."
Gale Stacy
Gale is Administrative Secretary to the Associate Dean for Community Life, and to the Director of Residence Life. Gale previously served as a temporary employee in the Vice Provost of Faculty Development Office, and in the Biological and Physical Sciences department. She also serves as head of the women’s ministry My Father’s House Christian Church. She has a son and daughter-in-law who live in Long Beach, another son and daughter-in-law in Oregon, and a 17 year old son at La Mirada High. Gale loves to entertain (especially over a good meal) or to sit quietly and do needle work. Her passion is "to see people come to an understanding of their worth and value in God's eyes and find His purpose for their lives. I have the privilege of working with a number of ladies on a personal basis in this way." Gale says she loves working in Residence LIfe as it feels like an extension of that passion - assisting a team of people who are dedicated to helping the students of Biola to succeed. "I love to laugh and have fun and enjoy the people around me...'Life is too important to take too seriously' is a quote I try to live by."
