About SCORR

From the Director

Welcome to the Annual Student Congress on Racial Reconciliation (SCORR)! It is a blessing to have you join us for this unique conference, which focuses on the needs of students from culturally diverse backgrounds on the Christian College campus.

At this conference you will have the opportunity to meet one another, fellowship, dialogue and pray together for a weekend. Our diverse cultures, customs, styles of worship, and the different perspectives that we bring all add to the richness that makes up the vitality in the Body of Christ. It is essential for us to interact with one another. As we grow in Christ, we also grow to know and better serve one another.

This year’s theme, The Kingdom in our Midst seeks to remind us that the Kingdom of God is a current day reality. Our challenge is to live in such a way that we seek first His Kingdom and its righteousness.  His Kingdom is diverse, where justice is a central and where all God’s children thrive.

Through our sessions and interactions with one another we seek to grow in our vision for social justice and compassion for all peoples.  We all play a crucial role in the  building of the Kingdom of God on earth.

Because inner transformation leads to faithful action, it is vital that we learn, dialogue, pray, and grow...together. It is our hope and prayer that through this conference, we may stimulate and encourage one another to embrace the challenges of interacting in a more meaningful way.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. KinoshitaLet’s get ready for a time of discovery, fellowship and FUN!

For His Kingdom on earth,

Glen Kinoshita
Director, Student Congress on Racial Reconciliation

2008 Conference Theme
The Kingdom in our Midst (Luke 17:21)

Many times we hear the question asked, “what is our goal as we pursue diversity in the Christian community?” There are obviously many facets to answering this question. Succinctly put, Jesus said to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matt. 6:33). As we grow in our understanding of God’s kingdom we learn more of multi-ethnicity, justice and inclusiveness. The Kingdom of God is “righteousness, peace and joy” (Romans 14:17).

But the justice and righteousness that marks the Kingdom of God is to be alive in our midst now. It will one day be fully realized, but God’s kingdom is also a reality in our current day and age. God’s kingdom is to be lived out in the midst of community. It seeks to serve the needs of the poor and oppressed, and thus will the world know we are followers of God. Reconciliation is more than just an act of social justice, it is a lifestyle. Hence, our theme for this year. May we all continue to learn from one another through this conference and beyond, the practice of making the Kingdom a reality in our midst.
