Brass Pacifica
Started in 1995, five of the top young brass players in Los Angeles were brought together by their love for chamber music. Since their inception, Brass Pacifica has performed across the United States, including a year-long residency with the Grand Theatre in Ellsworth, Maine. At present, Brass Pacifica is active playing across Southern California in formal recitals, special events and educational outreach concerts. Members include Marissa Benedict, trumpet; Daniel Rosenboom, trumpet; Amy Sanchez, horn; Steve Suminki, trombone; and Biola alumni, Chuck Koontz, tuba.

Our student New Music Ensembles will present a concert of classic and new 20th and 21st century works, including those by faculty and alumni. All music alumni who are members of the newly established Biola Alumni Composer Honor Society have been invited to submit compositions for this concert. Come discover new, challenging, and refreshing music!

Christopher Caliendo, Guitar
Guitarist and composer Christopher Caliendo, has composed and published over 250 compositions for flute, many of which are standards in today’s flute repertoire. As a film and TV composer, he has written scores for several television series, and received an Emmy nomination for his work on the television series, Paradise. Film soundtracks include the restoration of Major Dundee for SONY Pictures, the 136 minute soundtrack to John Ford’s silent feature, The Iron Horse, which was included in the top-10 film scores of the year by Film Score Monthly magazine. He is also an internationally known concert guitarist, with numerous recordings and appearances with celebrities.

From her first recordings for Kapp Records, and her highly acclaimed Carnegie Hall recital debut as an artist on the Sol Hurok roster, Ann Schein’s amazing career has earned her high praise in major American and European cities and in more than 50 countries around the world.    About Ann Schein, the Washington Post has written "Thank heaven for Ann Schein...what a relief it is to hear a pianist who, with no muss or fuss, simply reaches right into the heart of whatever she is playing–and creates music so powerful you cannot tear yourself away." Saxophonist Dan St. Marseille, pianist Christopher Dawson, bassist Roger Shew, and drummer  Paul Kreibich, have teamed up for a quartet that plays diverse and inspired jazz, with an emphasis on melody.

Voxfire Soprano Trio
The celebrated West-coast trio Voxfire is most highly regarded as interpreters of early and contemporary vocal music. The three sopranos delight in intertwining their distinct voices with dramatic flair, breathing new life into the ancient and translating age-old wisdom into the modern. From providing musical accompaniment for ancient exhibits at Southland museums to performing newly crafted compositions, sopranos Samela Aird Beasom, Christen Herman, and Susan Judy, have drawn enthusiastic audiences in the Western U.S.
