Bicycles are good exercise and greener than cars... but they're not welcome everywhere on campus.

Every semester there are accidents and injuries caused by bicycles on crowded sidewalks.

Bikes can be a quick way of getting around campus, and are certainly a greener way to get to campus if you're a commuter.The university has tried to keep up with the growing number of bikes on campus by providing multiple high-security bikeracks around campus, and by creating a bicycle-registration policy to improve security.

But as Biola's enrollment continues at a high level, and construction diverts pedestrian traffic, the university's sidewalks are more and more crowded.

So campus policy is pretty simple: don't ride your bike on a sidewalk. Bicycles can only use roads that are open to automobile traffic.
